Myinlife helps caregivers and people with dementia to use the power of their own environment.

Mark van Velzen (73 years old)

I use Myinlife to keep family, friends and neighbours involved in my wife Jannie's life. She has dementia and we can use some help now and then. For example, our granddaughter Mieke often takes her for a walk. So relaxing! We enjoy looking at the pictures and messages together that are posted on Myinlife by our family.

Circles

Use circles to divide your environment into groups. This makes it easy to share messages and requests with the relevant people.

Circles

Timeline

Here you can all share daily activities. It helps you to keep your own circles informed about how you are doing, what is going on in your lives and any other relevant news or activities. Share the happy moments and find support when things are going not so well. The timeline also keeps you informed about the nice things that happen to the people in the circles.

Help

Taking care of a person with dementia can be quite intensive. The people in your environment can help you, but they may not always know how. Let these people know what you need. For example, you may need help with household chores or administration, or maybe you need someone to keep you company or help you organise an outing.

Personal messages

Use personal messages to send a message to one or more specific people in your circles. You can also use personal messages to quickly notify someone and make an appointment.

Care notebook

Sometimes, for example if you are ill or on holiday, you need to be able to temporarily transfer the care to someone else. Use the care notebook to record all the information you think is important for people in the inner circle.

Calendar

Use the calendar to indicate when and with what you could use some help. The people in your environment can respond and indicate if they are able to help.

Compass

You probably have a lot of questions when you are confronted with dementia in your immediate environment. The Compass helps you find the information you need. It offers up-to-date sources of information about dementia and about providing care.

Mieke van Velzen (23 years old)

I live far away and I do not see my grandparents as often as I used to. They enjoy it very much when I visit them every now and then, even though grandma Jannie has bad days sometimes. My grandpa Mark takes good care of her, but he could use some help. Of course I have joined Myinlife! It's a great way to keep in touch and I have a better idea what I can do to help.

Why Myinlife?

The Myinlife website was developed for and together with caregivers and people with dementia. Their experiences with the website have been evaluated. Myinlife is intended as a tool to share daily events with the people around a dementia caregiver in a positive way. It allows the caregiver to involve the people in their environment in the daily care in an easy and informal way.

This is what you can do with Myinlife:

  • Keep everyone informed at all times via care circles; you decide who has access to which information.
  • Exchange pictures and stories, this encourages participation of everyone involved.
  • Plan appointments, this is easy to do and immediately visible for everyone thanks to the calendar.
  • Share a request for help, this is also easy to do and people can respond right away.
  • Stay informed of the latest news wherever you are with the mobile Myinlife app
